"It's very hard to explain why i wanted to draw the Chinese. It's purely came from my heart." Wara explained.
Probably, Chinese blood in Wara's body drove her to make the paintings. At that time, she had not visited China, and made her paintings just based on books, Tv show, or her imagination.

In this period, Wara tend to use brighter and cheerful colors. It's different with her earlier paintings, especially her pastel paintings, which dominated by gloomy, dark colors. Wara mostly focused on the family life of the ancient Chinese community, as shown by the painting below

Wara can be recognized as the first female painter in Indonesia who captures the images of the ancient Chinese life, and her great painting technique just as shown in "Menghentikan Waktu" (Stopping the Times)

After 2001, Wara rarely made painting with Chinese Culture as her object, exactly after her trip to Beijing.
"Well, I saw everything in Beijing, and i think my imagination about Chinese Culture is completely fulfilled in Beijing. They have gone.", said Wara.
